While the immediate danger from the bushfire threatening Yackandandah has eased, all the signs are pointing to a long, hot, severe fire season in our region. Read more →Friday, 14 March 2014: An outbreak of the highly contagious and life threatening Canine Parvovirus (CPV) has been confirmed in the Albury/Wodonga region and other local areas. At this stage there are no confirmed cases in the Porepunkah/Bright area but the virus can spread very quickly and can kill your dog.
Read more →Dr. Bek and Alpine Animal Doctors would like to warn pet owners in Bright/Porepunkah that the Department of Environment and Primary Industries will undertake a 1080 poisoning programme in the area from 20 August 2013 through to 12 November 2013. All tracks to be baited will be clearly signposted. Pet owners should exercise extreme caution and keep dogs and cats well away from areas with poison baits during the programme, and for some time afterwards.

We’re all devastated of course, but we’re hopeful he will find his way back home. The last time he did this he was missing for five days but, with the help of the local community, was found safe and well, just very hungry.
Read more →Our newest veterinarian, Dr. Nicole, had her first close up and personal encounter with a wild baby wombat recently, in tragic circumstances. The baby was rescued, alive and unharmed, from her mother’s pouch after mum was killed by a car.
